My name is Billy Jones and I graduated in February 2000 from Spartan’s NDT/QC program. Upon successful completion of the course I interviewed with several companies with lots of help from the job placement department. I carefully reviewed all of my options and decided to take a job with Longview Inspection in Houston, TX. I must admit this decision and the decision to attend Spartan rank up at the top of the best decisions I have made. I was assigned to work at Bayer, a chemical plant in Baytown, TX where I certified ASNT Level II in RT, UT, PT, and MT. I worked at Bayer for 2 years until Longview transferred me to Exxon Houston Oelfins Plant. Longview invested in certifying me to perform Alternating Current Field Measurement (ACFM). The ACFM certification allowed Longview to employ me in major turnarounds and outages in refineries throughout the Gulf Coast region. September 2002 I took an assignment working at Hovensa Refinery St Croix, US Virgin Island as a radiographer x-raying process piping. October 2003 I was promoted to piping supervisor where my duties included tracking and scheduling inspection on all process piping in refinery. January 2004 I was promoted to site supervisor where I share responsibilities with another site supervisor to coordinate all inspection activities taking place inside the refinery. I have had the opportunity to work with and supervise 5 other Spartan alumni and we always set the standard for knowledge and quality work. I am currently undergoing pre-course studies for the API 570. I am scheduled to take the exam for this national certification on December 1, 2004.
