Marvin Duffy | Avionics Graduate

During my senior year of high school, one of your representatives/recruiters came to my high school (Cape Henlopen), located in Lewes, Delaware, and gave a presentation which sparked my interest. I believe his first name was Steve. Anyway, I started Spartan the fall of 1985 and graduated the spring of 1987 with an Associate degree in Avionics. About a month after graduating, I was hired as an AV technician with the University of Delaware and over the years movedĀ  up or laterally to various positions. Currently, I am still employed with UD doing IT, distance learning designs and repairs, and computer maintenance. In addition to working at UD, I started an electronic repair business and owned and operated it from about 1993 to 2000. I gave up the business to spend more time with my family.

This may not be the type of story you want because I never worked in the aeronautics industry, but is does demonstrate that your graduates aren’t limited to the aeronautics industry. I feel that I have been a superior technician because a was trained in an industry that has little room for error. I have seen other technicians not able to do simple tasks, such as soldering properly.
