Ronald Haight | Spartan College Graduate

I graduated from Spartan March 1987. I found a job in Lawton with Metro Airlines an American Eagle franchise carrier. I was hired on April 22, 1987 as an aircraft mechanic. We performed C checks and overhauls on Convair 580 aircraft.
In 1987 we began flying Saab 340 aircraft.
In 1990 Metro Airlines filed bankruptcy and in 1992 Metro Airlines was bought out of bankruptcy court by AMR Eagle, Simmons Airlines.
In 1994 Simmons Airlines and two other American Eagle carriers were merged to form one airline, American Eagle Airlines Incorporated.
The most stressful day of my career occurred September 11, 2001 when I received the call to remove all planes from the gate and lock them down. The world didn’t realize how much the terrorist attacks would hurt the airline business as well as the economy, but we will survive and move forward.
Currently, American Eagle Airlines Inc is taking delivery on CRJ7000 and EMB145. These regional jets are the future of our industry. I will be receiving training in the near future on these aircraft.
My training at Spartan has allowed me to travel around our country and given me a great career.
